OUR JOURNEY

Established in 2021 as a small firewood business, Vyrnwy Logs has grown from our original small yard into a growing family-run business based on the family farm, giving us the space and facilities to develop our operation.

As the business grew, we invested in our own kiln-drying facility, allowing us to carefully dry our firewood on the farm to produce a consistent, high-quality product. The kiln is heated using energy generated from the waste wood produced during our cutting process, helping us make use of as much of the timber as possible.

Our timber is locally sourced, much of it coming from woodland thinning, ash clearance and tree surgery work. By using timber that is already being removed as part of responsible woodland management and tree work, we are able to give it a useful second life rather than letting it go to waste

OUR SAWMILL

In 2026, we took the next step in the development of Vyrnwy Logs with an investment in our own sawmill.

The sawmill allows us to process locally sourced timber ourselves, turning larger and higher-quality sections of timber into useful sawn products. This gives us greater control over the process, from sourcing the timber through to producing the finished product.

We can now make better use of some of the finest timber that comes through our yard, producing beams, boards, slabs and other timber products, with the potential for bespoke cuts to suit individual projects.

For us, the sawmill is a natural progression of the business. It allows us to get more value from each tree, making use of the best timber for construction, landscaping, furniture and other projects, while the remaining timber can continue through our firewood process.

Making the most of the timber we source is at the heart of what we do. From quality sawn timber to kiln-dried firewood, we aim to use as much of every tree as possible and keep our production as local and efficient as we can.

As Vyrnwy Logs continues to grow, we are always looking for new ways to improve our processes, reduce waste and build on our commitment to making responsible use of locally sourced timber.
